I would like to interview brick and mortar business owners for my own research but also a YT channel. Should I expect to have to offer money for their time?

Last year I had begun game reselling online. The dream is to eventually have a brick and mortar local game store (LGS). I recently started a YT channel with the intention of chronicling some of that journey and would like to interview LGS, comic book stores and a surviving video rental store owners in the area. I'm no influencer, I'm just a dude in his basement with a side hustle ATM and no audience. Is it appropriate to ask to interview some of these business owners for free or is proper etiquette to offer payment or some kind for their time?
