Ex wife asking for stuff post divorce finalization.

Life After Divorce

I have a question I’m hoping maybe some others can offer their advice on. My Ex-Wife left our home about 5 years ago after years of affairs and god only knows what else. She left most of her belongings behind and only came back for a few items within the first 6 months. After a few years our divorce was finalized and I had mailed her all the items she requested. We have now been divorced for just over 3 years. Fast forward now to this week, and I get a call out of the blue that she is going to be in town and would like to come get the rest of her stuff. I told her that if she sent me a list of everything she wanted I would gather it and place it in a storage unit for her to come and get. However she said she would like to come to the house and go through everything so she can pick out what she wants. I’ve told her that’s not going to happen and that after 3 years post finalized divorce she is lucky that any of this stuff is even still here. I have no ill will or anything to her. I would love nothing more than to get her stuff to her but coming into my home and rummaging around for items is not going to happen.

Am I justified in offering her the option of a storage unit or does she still legally have a right to any of these items? I work for several days at a time so I am not able to be home 24/7 to make sure she doesn’t come to the house while I’m at work. I don’t trust that she would be honest about anything during this process. Does anyone have any advice or have shared a similar experience?

This has gone on for long enough and it’s time for both of us to just live our lives. I wish her all the best and happiness for her moving forward, but please stop dragging me along in this game.
