How to deposit a cheque (student here)

I don’t have a BDO account, but I received a cheque under my name as a reimbursement from my school. Can I deposit the cheque into my mother’s BDO account instead? What steps should I take to make this possible?

The cheque also has an expiration date, should I open an account instead? Last time I checked po kasi a student's account is only for 14yra old below and I don't think I can afford a maintaining balance.
