Masonry

My husband is interested in a local Masonic lodge and meets with them this week. I fully support his desire and am open to getting involved as well, I just don’t know as much so I just started doing research. I’ve read that it is very family oriented, is it normal not to bring your family to your first meeting/event? I told my husband I’m totally willing to go with him, but he said it was just him going the first time. Can someone provide insight on if that’s standard? Looking for education here, that’s all.
