Is it okay to start next chapter with a different scene?

I ended chapter 1 on a cliffhanging scene. And I started chapter 2 with a new scene for suspense as my novel is thriller suspense . I described the scene that ended in chapter 1 in diary entry of chapter 3 . So is it okay to start a chapter with a different scene than the one you ended with ?
