Y700 (2025) Adaptive Screen Refresh Rate Problem

The refresh rate stays at 120hz when I am just at my home screen without touching the screen/device. It goes to 60hz when I switch to an app without doing anything. Weird that it stays at 120hz on the home screen with nothing going on. All apps are closed.

If I am using Youtube, it goes to 60hz when I do not interact with the device but it goes to 120hz when I start playing a video. When I use VLC, it stays at 60hz when I open the app or play a video. Why does it go to 120hz for Youtube and stays at 60hz for VLC?

Then if I use picture-in-picture on a Youtube video, the refresh rate while playing a video in the home screen or an app like Reddit without touching the device goes from 30hz to 120hz jumping from between those two refresh rates quite fast. Like a 1 second interval. For VLC in picture-in-picture mode it stays at 60hz.

Is this normal? Should it not be at 60hz at most when I am playing a video on Youtube since the max fps there is just 60fps? Why does it go from 30hz to 120hz when in PiP? Why is it okay with VLC? Why is it at a constant 120hz when I am just in the home screen but at a 60hz when an app is open without scrolling?

My device's screen refresh rate is set to Intelligent. I have not enable 165hz on any app. Wallpaper is a static image.
