How to breakup with my hair stylist?!

Hi, hoping for some advice! I've had the same hair stylist since college (I'm currently 39). She is also my cousin and while we were close growing up and in high school together, we now only see each other at hair appointments. I love seeing her and she's a great stylist. However, she does not know how to cut curly hair. This was never an issue because I always used to straighten my hair. Now that I have two young kids, I've completely given up straightening and I only wear my hair curly. I want to try a specialist who knows how to cut curly hair, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to tell my cousin!

We always book the next appointment when I'm there, but I had to reschedule my January appointment to February and now I have to move that one again due to a conflict. I decided now is the time and booked a curly cut at a different salon. How would you tell her?

My husband says I should just cancel the appointment and just not reschedule, but that doesn't feel right. I'm debating between telling her it's too long and I just need to get in somewhere sooner than she's available or admitting I want to get a curly cut. Am I overthinking? Certainly.
