Sevis number on my visa doesn't match the one on my i-20, should I apply for a new visa?

I was supposed to start grad school last July but was put on administrative processing for months, forcing me to defer for a year. Since my SEVIS record, transferred from my undergrad institution, couldn't be deferred for more than 5 months, my school created a new SEVIS record with the updated start date.

Now, my visa has been approved, but it references the SEVIS number from my old record. However, both my visa and I-20 reflect the same program and school and will still be valid when I travel to the U.S.

I called ICE, and they said it should be fine as long as both documents are valid upon arrival. My school’s DSO acknowledged this is a gray area and suggested I could reapply for a visa to avoid complications. She also said she will provide me with a support letter explaining the situation and why the SEVIS numbers differ to show CBP officers when I arrive to the US.

Logically, this seems like a straightforward situation. My visa is approved, meaning whatever caused the previous delay in administrative processing has been resolved. The issue is just a SEVIS number discrepancy, and I’m already accepted into my program. So they should approve my visa. Still, I’m scared because you never know how visa officers or CBP officers might handle this.

Also, if I apply to a new visa, is my current visa already invalid? can I travel with my current visa if the new one didn't get accepted or I was put on administrative processing?

What should I do?

TLDR:
My visa references my old SEVIS record, but my I-20 and visa match the same program/school and will be valid at arrival. My DSO will provide a support letter explaining the SEVIS discrepancy, and ICE said I should be fine. Logically, it seems simple, but I’m scared of being denied entry or facing complications. Should I risk traveling or reapply for a visa and risk administrative processing delays again?
