Fellowship Transitional Government
About 7 days ago, what would be described as negotiations regarding the future of Fellowship were started when UnknownOreo came to the reality that he didn't have the time to run the faction at the level he once did.
Instead of being selfish and trying to carry on the faction in its current condition, a unfortunately pitiful condition, he began to talk of the future of the faction immediately.
As a leader of the city of Solis, the capital of SPQR, I stepped in and made it known that it was a possibility for Solis to assume control of the city in, at least, a temporary measure to secure the city from any further damage, and possibly as a long term investment for the server, to at a minimum hold whats left of Fellowship in trust for any former inhabitants to return, and at best investing some level of commitment to safeguard what is there and to help the locals rebuild the city to its full potential.
Now, we were not sure where this was going, but we began rudimentary preparations as soon as Oreo announced his intention to hand over control of the city to someone or disband the faction. And given the responses on that thread, that can be found here, we assumed Fellowship would disband if we didn't assume control.
I have been talking with u/Aurailious a little in public and privately about our possibilities.
While a meeting over Solis finances took up most of my time tonight, I was unable to make it to Fellowship tonight and we only briefly talked about the immediate future of Fellowship.
What we're committed to:
-
Protecting Fellowship From Griefers, we'll send some armed alts to the city to maintain a presence there in case hostiles return to the city.
-
Safeguarding property , I'm going to place between 10 and 20 snitches in Fellowship, or likely less snitches and more note blocks when they are out to create a network around the city to detect criminals and to record damage.
-
Local Control , it is our intention to allow Fellowship to set up its own government under our control and protection. We have not the desire to send our own autocrats to micromanage the city at this time. And in all honesty we recognize that we cannot run the city without locals.
So for now, Ghalen and I are in "Control" over decisions involving Fellowship, but we'll establish a temporary government over the next few days, likely a Governor serving at the will of our Senate.
We have some steps to carry out going forward to make sure the progression is successful:
-
Secure the area with soldiers and snitches.
-
Evaluate the damage and survey what is left, determine the best course of action.
-
Find out who is a 'citizen' of Fellowship and record it.
-
Discuss with locals what they want.
-
Address what resources Solis will be able to devote to Fellowship.
For all intensive purposes, Fellowship is now in the control of SPQR for whatever that is worth, and an attack on Fellowship will be seen as an attack on Solis.
