I sold a car to an out-of-state buyer and may have messed up the title. What do I do?

The title says the seller should fill out the buyer’s name and info, so I did. He’s now very upset because he tells me, as he’s in another state, he was supposed to do that and now the title is ruined. This is all news to me… any advice?
