Does Estradiol Gel Go Out of Date

NSFWHRT Trans Fem

Due to an oversight or presumed glitch in a system somehow I am getting prescribed a regular amount of Estradiol Gel but I am getting way more in each prescription than I should.

5 x 1 mg Sachets a Day (150 Sachets a Month) I am taking and being monitored for but I am receiving and prescribed 240 a month on a repeat. So there is a Surplus of 90 sachets building up each month.

This was arranged from a private doctor who did the monitoring and who worked alongside my NHS GP who agreed to do the prescriptions.

When the NHS endocrinologist finally took over my monitoring the private doctor discharged me but I don't think the GP got the memo and keeps on repeating the prescription on the NHS app. More than likely what's happened is it's on my new NHS number At one point I was even getting a double prescription! One from the old private doctor on the NHS app and one from NHS endo via paper slips on my old NHS number which I don't think has been fully merged. I now only use my new NHS number as the app is handy to order more and I don't get asked questions....

At first I thought great handy to have spares in case of delays and shortages but now I have over 100 Boxes of sachets which is 2,800 sachets spare!

The 1st lot of these expire in November 2025 so a fair while off but eventually I will soon start to catch up to expiry date - I have started getting boxes with dates as far off as 2027!

Question is do they go bad after that date or can they still be used? I know the advice is throw away expired medication but are there any studies on what happens. They don't suddenly just go bad when it turns fron November to December 🤣 so what's the safe crossover point.

I just store them in a cool dry place and stock rotate.
