How long to heal from surgery?

Specifically looking for info on when anyone was able to handle foods that would typically make HH symptoms worse, like greasy or acidic foods. The reason I ask is because my boyfriends 21st is on may 5th and I'd love to be part of the festivities. Don't have a surgery date yet but will be pursuing one. How long does it take to be able to handle consuming alcohol after the surgery?
