23f lonely grad student looking for friends :)

Hey! I'm a 23f who is currently a first year (second semester) grad student. I live in the US on the east coast, but I'm originally from the west coast. At the moment I'm studying, which is where you can find me most nights (and days honestly lol).

I love love love animals. I just thought I should mention that lol. As you can probably tell, I'm really bad at introducing myself, but I'm really trying to put myself out there, so I guess this is a start lol. I could talk about my love for animals all day. I have a really cute Shih Tzu puppy.

I kinda struggle with hobbies as I really have dedicated myself to school in the past few years and I'm just focusing on getting through that (PhD life is rough, man). But I love hiking and nature and swimming in the ocean.

I'm really lonely these days as I haven't made a ton of friends yet in my program (I have school friends but not like a bestie) so I guess I'm searching for some kind of deeper connection? Idk just someone I can actually vent to and isn't just like a colleague.
