Stunned monsters

Hi all! We've been addicted with the game, but have a question. Are the heroes allowed to attack stunned monsters? Some of our friends say we can and the regular defense rules will apply. But I think no because if something is "stunned" it can't move to defense.

Please help! Thank you very much!
