Somalis: The Last Pure Puntite Tribe
The Somalis are the purest and last surviving tribe of the ancient Puntite peoples.
In contrast, other Puntite-related groups have either disappeared or intermingled with different populations, giving rise to new hybrid ethnicities.
For example:
The ancient Egyptians are said to have been assimilated by Arabs, leading to their eventual disappearance as a distinct people. The Habesha (Abyssinians) emerged as a mixed population of Puntite and Semitic groups, forming a new hybrid ethnicity. The Nubians originated from a mixture of Nilo-Saharan and Puntite ancestry. The Maasai and Tutsi originated from a mixture of Nilotic and Puntite ancestry. The Oromo, on the other hand, are a tribal confederation formed through the fusion of Puntites, Abyssinians, and Sub-Saharan Africans, influenced by the Waaqeffanna faith.
