Review:

I'm glad a GOC vampire series exists, because I was really bummed about Bloodbound being genderlocked.

The plot in this book is very well paced out, I think. Every story beat feels natural, and there's always conflict and tension throughout, making things very engaging. The stuff with the covens and M/C trying to keep their mom from being nosy, obviously the love triangle (more like a love teepee if we're being honest), and the ominous danger of the dead vampires. The world-building is done well, and I love that the intro to the final battle/the battle itself is stretched over two-three chapters, allowing for some breathing room.

Collecting the talismans was cool, and using them in fights and various battles throughout was really fun. The poison one is so overpowered though, omg.

I love both Gabe and Cas as LIs, down to their contrasting personalities. Sunny and happy vs. brooding and snarky, why bother choosing? I know some don't really care for the poly aspects of this book (or the sequel), but I personally really enjoy it. I'd hate to have to choose between the two of them. Now, I will say that I can see how it would be obnoxious for those who choose to only romance one of them to have constant mentions of the other one being jealous.

I also appreciate the romantic chemistry between M/C and Gabe/Cas. There's no smut in this book, and thus we mostly get lots of great romantic development and charming moments with the LIs. I've said before that I don't mind smut, and it can be good, but it's nice to see romance without an inherent need for sex for once.

The side characters are neat. The various vampires you meet are entertaining (especially my king Seth), Libby is boring, Astoria grew on me by the end, and I'm left pissed off that Lewyn gets away with his atrocious acts. I like how heavily involved M/C's mom is in the plot, and the relationship between them felt very realistic and gray, as in, neither of them were truly in the right or wrong.

The Creator dude is an alright final villain, though I wish he got more screentime to be threatening and deadly. As it stands, he feels somewhat lame to me, but it's still a neat concept for a main villain.

As a small little thing I liked: male M/C has a twink body type! I actually really love that - I feel like every male M/C is always a super big and buff dude.

Overall, I really enjoy this book. There's a lot of charm poured into it, there's tension, there's drama, there's a great level of romance, with two really likeable love interests and an interesting supporting cast. I can see why the fan reception was so amazing that they un-cancelled the series.
