Is it easy to change a wire (I'm new)

Im completely new. I just got an acoustic guitar. I learned that im supposed to tune it and that i can do it with an app. The app kept telling me to go higher until i snapped a wire... An awful start. I bought a set but not sure if i should attempt to change it myself or have someone who is more experienced do it (i would have to find a person first)
