Do other countries have lower airline safety standards than the US does?

This is a completely genuine question as I’m curious. We talk about how amazing air travel within the US and by US airlines is, but I always wonder if this means we’re better off than other countries. Are we the best, or is there better? What’s the worst?

Since the DC crash was the US’s first major crash in, what, like over a decade? Is this a feat that other countries haven’t achieved?
