A man pulls over and faints in his car, his pitbull growls at the rescuers, blocking them until a vet is called on the scene - Ancona, Italy - 28 February 2025

Rescues Risking Lives

Fear yesterday morning shortly after 9, when some passers-by noticed and immediately reported the presence of a man, inside a Fiat Panda together with his pitbull, who did not seem to show signs of life.

When some people approached the car, which was located at the intersection of via Mattei and via del Perugino, to check on the man's conditions, the dog initially went berserk before calming down.

The request for help was immediate: the municipal police, an ambulance and the fire brigade rushed to the scene. A patrol of carabinieri also arrived to support. The man was slumped over the steering wheel and rescuing him was not easy because the dog was trying to defend its owner.

It was necessary to request the intervention of a veterinarian who managed to render the dog harmless, allowing the police to extract the man from the passenger compartment of the car and entrust him to the care of the paramedics.

The man was not responding to the rescuers' requests, so much so that it was thought he was lifeless.

Fortunately, he recovered after the vet managed to get the dog out of the car. The pitbull, once out of the car, calmed down, while its owner was entrusted to the care of the paramedics.

The man regained consciousness and was able to provide his personal details: his conditions did not appear to be worrying, but he was still transferred by ambulance to the hospital in Senigallia where he underwent tests to understand what could have caused the illness.

To allow the rescue operations, the Local Police temporarily diverted the traffic of cars from the area, but considering the time, traffic did not suffer any particular slowdowns.
