Probate process/ time enquiries- England
Hi, my sister (no contact) applied for Probate for my late grandmother's estate after she passed in 2022. The letter of administration was granted in September 2023 and I have been in touch with the solicitors she went through, but their responses aren't very helpful or speedy at all.
Every beneficiary is in contact with them, so in late December (2024) I requested my share of the estate. I received a response in January stating they would be sending out the distribution papers at the end of the month.
I have since chased this but I'm yet to receive a response.
I feel like my sister went to the cheapest solicitor she could find online rather than one with good client reviews (they're almost 100 miles from where we or my nan lived, so it's not one shes been to in person) something about their lack of responses and unwillingness to provide information makes me feel like perhaps the process shouldn't take this long?
I have no idea what to expect with the process and if this type of response or delay is usual?
I'd really appreciate if anyone can advise, thank you.
