Questions on transference

Ok, long story short, I've been working with this t for about 18 months. There were times I didn't like her much (but definitely did not hate, just didn't feel a click).

But now, I've really been going hard into my past trauma with her. And now I'm recognizing that I'm having some feelings for her that aren't just "oh, great therapist". I know it needs to be addressed. And I know why it's happening. I'm feeling supported and accepted, no matter how much awful shit happened to be, no matter how terribly I behaved due to it. I know it's not real romantic feelings. But I'm not sure how to address it.

I typically read her my journal entries when I have a memory come up or when I realize something about myself between visits. It helps me to share in a logical way and to not forget anything. It also helps me to not chicken out and not share some things.

So, I feel like this would be the best way to bring it up. But I'm not sure how to word it, I guess. Or just like how to introduce it. Right now I'm thinking something like this:

"Ok, (t name). I've had some realizations since we last met. I've written it out like usual, and let me preface this by saying this is difficult for me to share. I've realized that, due to the intimate details of my past and present I've shared with you, that I feel close to you. These things are things that have never been spoken aloud before, and I can see that my mind is kind of confusing our relationship, even though logically I know that we have a great therapeutic relationship. Yes, I'm talking about transference.

I know what it is, I know why it is. But I'm not sure how to deal with it. I know you are a competent and experienced therapist, and I need help dealing with this before I can move on to working through my trauma again. I'm ready and open to your thoughts and suggestions on how to handle this. Thank you."

That feels the most direct and honest and I've gotten to the place where that's how I do things. But it's funny, talking about abuse in detail and reactions to that feels easy now. But this feels heavier because, even though I know it ought not, it feels embarrassing.

I'm open to feedback, positive and critical.

Thanks.
