What to do when you don't suit your hair down? What do you do when you don't want to wear an updo?

Haircare

I have a wide, square face, and I look better when there's no hair near it - when all the "angles" of my face are on display, I look and feel much better. My hair isn't thick enough to wear straight, it just looks sad and defeated, but curls add too much volume to my face and make me look boxy.

I have chest length, 2A, low poristy hair. When I curl it and style it to the best of my ability, no compliments. When I throw it in a lazy claw clip style, I've even had my hairdresser tell me I suit it much more.

I'm 5'6" and (working on it) fat, so I'm not sure I could suit short hair, and I wouldn't be able to pull it off. The back of my hair is thick, the front pieces thin, so half up-dos make me look balding.

Am I doomed to be in claw clips for the rest of my days??
