Our finance officer checked themselves into the psych ward 2 months ago. Is this enough to declare them mentally incompetent? More below.

They are still the signator on the accounts. We thought it would be a short episode, and we could review duties on their return. Asking for the 2024 financial report kicked this off. Apparently suicidal ideation was the cause. Of course, we have no access to the details. This person manipulated some of us into a high level of trust. Should I start a conversation about removing them from the account? Some of us feel this drama was created to avoid presenting a report. Some of us feel it is genuine.

I tried researching this, but I couldn't find a standard. If anyone has any experience along this line, I would appreciate any idea of next steps. I would like to avoid going to court if possible.
