Was this a bad way to taper?

Discussion

I’m tapering off clonazepam and thought I was doing great and one morning out of the blue I woke up with anxiety, shaking, and muscle aching. From there it kept getting worse for a month until I got a bad chest cold which gave me muscle knots around my rib cage, my neck would lock up or make joint cracking sounds, and my shoulders would feel like sunburn.

As for the taper, I started at .5mg clonazepam for 5.5 years and used a diamond scale which goes to the thousandth (.000). Basically I would make baby cuts .001 every few days which took over a year to get to .25 when all this stuff happened.

I tried to wait to stabilize but it wouldn’t go back to normal and I panicked and updosed multiple time from wanting the pain to stop. I am sadly now at 1.7mg and about 65% normal.

Was it the style of tapering or just the fact that i hit a low enough amount that wouldn’t saturate my receptors (?).

Should i change to bigger cuts less frequently?
