Scared of Kitten.
We just recently adopted our kitten from the Humane Society and she had scratched two employees and hissed at them the day we adopted her while they tried to get her in the box. Although a microchip scanner did drop scaring her so it was just a stressful day for her.
Since being here we moved her to our other bathroom which has a walk in closet. We put her litter box, food, and toys in there for her. But I can't help but always feel afraid of her when I walk in the room. I'm hesitate to try and pet her even though my partner pet her last night she just always looks mad to me. And I've hadn't owned a kitten as an adult just as a child so I don't remember much about their body language.
I'm scared to the point that I don't want to go sit in there with her in fear that she might just try an attack out of the blue because I'm there.
I guess I don't know where to start feeling comfortable and engaging with her. Right now my partner says she should be isolated in one room but that means always closing the closet door when we aren't in there with her where as I feel I want the door open so she can feel as though she can explore some.
Sorry if this is confusing for some. I just want to feel okay around her.
