2 year EA charging include free charging at ChargePoint locations?
I recently leased (with the intent to purchase due to the rocking lease incentives) a 2024 Ioniq 5 Limited about 3 weeks ago. The salesman at the dealership told me about the free EA charging for 2 years which I have been using intermittently with good success for the past few weeks. He also told me that Hyundai offers free charging at their dealerships as an included perk of buying the car. The weird thing is that Hyundai dealerships use ChargePoint chargers. I messaged the dealership today inquiring about how the free dealership charging works with the free EA is done through the app membership. The salesman replied stating that "with the EA app you have free 30-minute charging that works at all ChargePoint charging stations, which is what our dealerships use".
Is this true or is the salesman not know what he is talking about? Has anyone had success with this? I do not see anything about this in the EA app. The only thing I see online is something about a roaming agreement between EA and ChargePoint. They are separate companies so it seems odd that this would work with the EA app.
I am planning on taking a 180mi trip in a few weeks and would like to try it out with my new EV. I am trying to take advantage of free charging if I can. Also, I bought my EV in the winter so my mi/kwh has been around 2.4-2.7 since I have had the car which dramatically decreases range (average temperatures have been below 10 degrees F).
