TPD Discharge- I know it’s been asked about alot recently
14k owed. Received notice from Nelnet a month and spare change that they would be discharging mid march unless i opted out. Original plan was to start online school back up slowly. One class a session. Obtain my Associates in Mathematics then finish off my BS. Kids are entering HS next year and I was going to go to school continually then take out loans IF they were showing a penchant for college and beyond. At some point after applying for said Discharge
If you were in my position with so much uncertainty going forward, would you choose just to let the discharge go through and figure out other funding means ? or would you take the risk (or have the confidence) that nothing outside of the taxable part in 2026 is going to change with our current system over the next decade. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated
Oh and yes 14k was racked up once my GI Bill expired and i hadnt finished my Bachelors in Psychology (two classes short but my current disability would make it impossible to work in said or any related field). vR&E is not an option
