Anyone else build BIS kits that just end up rotting in your stash?

I'm a pretty mid player and end up accumulating a decent store of wealth over the wipe. I'll build a couple very good kits but I don't feel like my PvP skills are up to par with the other players running these types of kits so it just leads to disappointment. Most of the time I'm playing <224 so that step up is tough. I've tried running some of the few crazy kits I make, and zero to hero style play but regardless winning in 225+ is a tall task. It's a combination of gear fear but made worse because bringing in that gear puts me against much better players. Maybe worth noting I have very little gear fear in min max 224 kits.

Anyone relate / have any advice on consistently breaking into 225+? Other than skill issue which it definitely is
