Just curious… has anyone else had problems with pain and scar tissue post surgery?
I had a heel spur surgery where they had to detach and reattach my Achilles to shave the bone down over a year ago. I had a hard time recovering from that as I continued to have pain nearly 10 months post surgery. I had an MRI done to show that my Achilles was encased in scar tissue. So much so that they had to do a debridement surgery ( so basically a second surgery where they just scraped off scar tissue). My podiatrist said that he had to remove nearly 50% of the mass before he hit healthy tissue and cleaned it up. Now it’s been 4 months ish since that surgery, and I still have a lot of pain.
Just as an additional FYI, I’ve been in physical therapy consistently since the first surgery ( at points twice a week) I’ve tried dry needling, an enormous amount of scraping, iontophoresis and shockwave therapy. The only things that make a minimal amount of difference is the ionto and shockwave therapy, but now I’m hitting another plateau of recovery and I’m just… done. I’m so frustrated and tired and going broke over this ankle and nothing works.
So I’m just curious if others have had a similar experience or could recommend some at home things I can do to help mitigate pain so I can function normally? Thanks. 😊
