Any solo parents in here?
I got a divorce I February of 2024. He's an alcoholic, which was the main reason of divorce. But we'd been in fertility treatment since January 2021, and TTC since 2020, so when the clinic called me to ask if I wanted to continue solo, I said yes. I wasn't even divorced yet. Now I'm pregnant, 28 weeks along, with a donor I chose myself, and feeling absolutely amazing about that choice. I'm never, ever, going to get another parent to this baby. It's mine, and it is going to have a safe upbringing without the disappointment of absent fathers and "mom's girlfriend/boyfriend" coming in and out of their life. It's the best choice for me. I have a close knit community of women and non binary people in my life, and they're going to be the adults and family for baby.
But I'm wondering - are you out there? The people giving birth and choosing to be parents solo? Not single, but solo. I've had a lot of questions about that through out, like "can't you find another husband?" and stuff like that. My mother has been alone on and off during my childhood, and when she was alone she was the best mom in the world. Every time she found someone, she became a shadow of herself, and disappeared into his demands, his expectations, fears, inaptitudes, fixing his messes... I don't want that for me or baby.
