Personality

Hoshigiri Akane is a whimsical, carefree, and mischievous entity who behaves much like a curious child. She has an innocent and unpredictable nature, often playing harmless pranks on Gensokyo’s inhabitants.

However, in moments of extreme seriousness, her true cosmic nature surfaces—
Her expression darkens, her voice falls silent, and she becomes a cold, emotionless anomaly—
A remnant of the immeasurable power she once wielded.

Despite her strength, she cannot walk properly on solid ground.

She trips instantly the moment she tries to take a step.

Floating, bending reality, or phasing through space? Easy.

Basic walking? Impossible.

She also has an irrational fear of rabbits, though neither she nor anyone else knows why.

If she sees one, she panics and flees instantly, letting out a small "Eep!" before disappearing.

Her Forgotten Oath

Akane does not seek power, recognition, or control—
She simply exists, drifting aimlessly through a world that has forgotten her.

But despite her fading memory, despite the eons of solitude—
One promise remains.

Not a promise made to a god, nor a ruler, nor even a person—
But a promise made directly to Gensokyo itself.

A vow so deeply ingrained into reality that every being in Gensokyo feels it.

Some hear it as a whisper in the wind.
Some glimpse it in the patterns of the stars.
Some feel it in the quiet, unshakable warmth of belonging.

But none know its source.
And none understand its origin.

It is the last fragment of a forgotten guardian.

"I will protect Gensokyo."

Even if she forgets herself, even if the world never speaks of her again—
That promise will never fade.

Hobbies, Strange Habits, and Cosmic Amnesia

Cosmic Collector

Despite being an ancient, reality-warping entity, Akane has an obsession with collecting random cosmic objects.

Star fragments, comet cores, void dust, interdimensional relics—anything that seems “cool.”

She keeps them in a mystical pouch that somehow never gets full.

Claims she’s going to "do something amazing" with them one day, but…

…She always forgets what it was.

Terrible at Acting Normal

Akane wants to experience "normal life", but fails spectacularly.

Once asked Reimu if she was "doing human things correctly" while holding an entire tree.

Tried to buy food with a piece of a collapsed universe.

Attempted to walk on the ground… and tripped immediately.

Effects of Cosmic Amnesia

Her constant memory loss makes her daily life a mess:

Forgets what she was doing mid-sentence.

Loses track of objects—even celestial ones.

Accidentally alters reality when forgetting something.

Confuses people by reacting to "memories" that never happened.

Sometimes forgets to exist entirely.

Despite her forgetfulness, there are moments when she grows quiet and distant—
As if she senses something important missing, but can’t grasp what.

140 Years Ago – The Battle No One Saw

The Arrival of the Celestial Shade

140 years ago, a being of fallen stars and forgotten constellations shattered the Great Hakurei Barrier.

It was not youkai, not god, not celestial—

Its mere presence threatened to unravel Gensokyo’s existence.

Before it could take its first step into this world,
A small floating girl appeared.

She did not hesitate.
She did not speak.

She simply reached out—
And both she and the Shade vanished into the abyss.

---

The Battle That Lasted a Week but Felt Like 100 Years

Akane fought for 7 days in a void where time flowed 100 times slower.

The Shade mimicked her powers, countering everything she did.

Her cosmic amnesia erased her strategies, forcing her into a desperate struggle.

She barely remembered why she was fighting—but she knew she had to win.

In the final moment, she struck the decisive blow.

But the Shade’s last, desperate attack bypassed her intangibility, striking her head.

Instead of returning to Gensokyo, she was flung into a realm where time moved thousands of times faster.

What felt like only seconds for her—
Was 140 years for Gensokyo.

By the time she emerged from the rift,
She was forgotten.
