Need insight decoding symbolism

I've had this dream often. It starts out different each time, but it's always one of the people that have caused me trauma. And we're involved in a nonsensical chase. Them I become lucid and I go out whatever door there may be in this particular version. I then begin ascending an invisible staircase. Once I'm high in the sky I start floating. Onwards and upwards until I feel safe and peaceful. Them I wake up.
