Title: Need Advice: High-Performance PC for Engineering & Gaming on a Budget
Hey everyone! Thanks for checking out my post.
I’m currently in the market for a high-performance PC that will serve as my main machine for both studying and gaming. I have quite a few requirements since I need it to handle demanding software for my bachelor’s in Technology Management and Marine Engineering, while also being a solid gaming rig.
For my studies, I work with programs such as:
- SolidWorks – CAD Modeling
- AutoCAD – CAD Modeling
- Ansys Structural – Structural Response & Strength Analysis
- OrcaFlex – Hydrodynamic Response & Analysis
And that’s just a few! So, I need a PC capable of handling heavy computations, simulations, and programming without slowdowns.
On the gaming side, I love experimenting with mods (Terraria, Cyberpunk), playing fast-paced games (CS:GO, Need for Speed), and getting immersed in graphically intense worlds (Hogwarts Legacy, Baldur’s Gate 3). I want a system that can handle modern AAA titles smoothly at high settings without performance issues.
I’ve heard that sometimes a PC optimized for professional work isn’t ideal for gaming and vice versa. Is that true in my case? Or is there a build that can balance both without major compromises? I’d love some advice on what specs to aim for.
Budget & Other Considerations
- Budget: Max 1964 USD (for the PC alone).
- Monitor/TV: Planning to use a Samsung 55" 4K OLED TV S90D as a combo screen for gaming and entertainment (small apartment life!).
- Location: I live in Denmark, so ideally, I’d prefer to buy locally to avoid the high costs and risks of importing parts.
I really appreciate any advice or recommendations! Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts!
