benefits of GE for Green card holders?
Hi all,
I'm a GC holder, planning to take an international trip with my USC partner in mid-April. I've been reading about GE and feel unsure if i should apply for it, and if there is even enough time to apply for it. Can anyone explain what the pros and cons of GE would be as opposed to just re-entering with my GC and foreign passport?
For some additional context: I'm already anxious about international travel with my foreign passport, especially with the current administration and the all the posts about people even with legal presence getting detained/questioned or getting secondary screenings. I don't necessarily want to bring additional scrutiny to myself by applying for GE. Also i've read that if you only get conditional approval, you have to submit for an interview when you re-enter the country; is this correct? I would also rather not have to carry that additional anxiety for interview and carry all the supporting documents in anticipation for this interview. Also, will my partner be able to accompany me at the airport for the interview or any secondary screenings, if i get pulled aside?
Can someone who is a GC holder and has applied for GE in the current administration share their experience with me? How long did it take and what kinds of questions were asked at the interview?
Thank you in advance for any helpful responses.
