How to gender self-haters?

I saw someone going by the name Ray Alex Williams posted this article titled "How Catholicism solved my autogynephilia problem". Them among others I've seen making some kind of small careers out of their detransitions and they seem to be very insincere and rooted in self-hatred rather than actually being cis. So I guess my question is, should we gender these self-hating dysphoric ppl as their true gender or self-professed one? On one hand we're respecting their "identity" but also encouraging repression and self-delusion. Its like a philosophical dilemma isn't it? How do we deal with it?
