Cost to mail renewal from US?

Hi all! I read a post on here that did not recommend using USPS to mail in a renewal from the US but instead a courier (FedEx, UPS, etc).

I am wondering if anyone has any recent data points on how much mailing cost them from the US?

I’m located in NYC and mailing to Gatineau I was quoted $50 from USPS and ~$80 from UPS and FedEx. This feels fairly high to me… but maybe it is standard. Was hoping it would cost under $50 but don’t want to use USPS if they are not recommended. Thanks!
