Cashless restaurants becoming the new norm in ATX?

Ever since Covid, I very rarely carry cash. When I went out with a girlfriend to Kome off of Airport Blvd. and tried paying with cash, I was denied. The waitress then shared that there have been a string of robberies - primarily targeting the servers/bartenders/staff at bars and restaurants. Apparently they wait until after closing and wait in staff parking lots or hide near their cars and wait to catch them off guard etc. which is terrifying.

Has anyone else heard of this or am I the lonely individual under a rock?
