I'm building an altar for Nyx

I have a lot of questions and I tried asking in r/greekmythology but they keep taking my post down 😭😭 Do I need to cleanse items before I put them on the altar? What can I use instead of white sage? Is it okay to have a lamp on the altar? (It doesn't signify anything it's js a regular lamp)
