How to serve a company when being told CEO is out of the country?

I am trying to sue a local company but am told the CEO is out of the country (by his lawyer). What can I do? Should I apply for an order for substitution service, and serve the lawyer or the CEO by email? I got a corporate search and the only person named is the CEO.
