The Day I Saw My Grandma… After She Was Gone
Read this only if you have time 🙏🙌
I don’t believe in ghosts, spirits, or anything supernatural—like, at all. But something happened to me during the COVID period when I was in 7th standard that I just can't explain.
It was an afternoon. My grandma and grandpa had already passed away by that time—my grandma when I was in 4th and my grandpa when I was in Lkg. I had memories of both of them and they were very kind and pampered me a lot.
That day, I had just taken a shower and stepped out of the bathroom. This wasn’t an attached bathroom—it was a common one. Near it, there was a room. The door to that room was half open. My parents were sleeping in another room, and my sister was in hers. This was my room.
As I got out, wearing only my towel, my eyes just locked onto that half-open door. And inside, I saw something that I know shouldn't have been there.
My grandma.
She was sitting there, facing the wall , combing her hair—just like she used to when she was alive. She didn't see me. She was just sitting there, completely focused on her hair.
Now, keep in mind—this was broad daylight. Not at night. No shadows. No tricks of the mind. She looked real. Like, a full-on, 3D figure.
At first, my brain went, This can’t be real. There’s no way. But at the same time, I could see her, as clear as day.
I thought about all those horror movies where people look away, and when they look back, the figure is gone. So I made a decision—I wouldn’t blink. I wouldn’t look away. I wanted to know what the hell was going on.
Step by step, I walked towards her, keeping my eyes locked on her. No yelling, no panicking, no sudden movements. Just moving closer.
But then, for a split second, my focus automatically shifted to the half-open door. I didn't do it on purpose—it just happened. The door caught my attention for just a moment.
And that was it.
When I snapped my eyes back to the room—she was gone.
Just like that.
Now, I know most people won’t believe me. Hell, if I were reading this from a random stranger on the internet, I wouldn’t believe it either. I'd assume they were hallucinating or just imagining things.
But this wasn’t some vague shadow. It wasn’t some dreamlike blur. I saw her, clear as day. And the moment my eyes shifted, she disappeared.
I don’t know what to make of it. I still don’t believe in ghosts. But I do know what I saw.
And that’s the truth.
