Struggling with Isolation Despite Being an Introvert
I recently moved to a remote place for work, with the nearest city 20 km away. I’m a research assistant in Economics, and while the pay is decent and the workload isn’t overwhelming, I’m struggling with loneliness.
I always thought I was introverted, enjoying time alone, but I now realize how much I relied on social interactions to clear my mind. I had plans—reading, writing, watching films, even relearning the flute and harmonica. But now, with so much free time, I feel unmotivated and directionless. I try to maintain a routine, meditate, and structure my day, but I lack the pull to stick with anything.
How do you deal with long-term solitude without feeling lost? How do you keep yourself engaged and mentally stimulated?
