What is the difference between Student Teaching and EDUC 5888 (Supervised teaching)?

Question for anyone in the college of education. I have emailed multiple advisors and none are giving me a straight, uncomplicated answer.

I don't know if what's being referred to as Student Teaching is the same as EDUC 5888 because most of my colleagues are in the teacher residency program and I am not. But my program sheet for the M.Ed only lists "student teaching" in the bottom, not as a required course or activity, but only as a warning: "Must apply to student teaching one year prior!". Does anyone know if this is or is not a hard requirement separate from EDUC 5888?
