Wojtek, a 500-lb Syrian brown bear, served in the Polish army after being adopted by soldiers in Iran. Raised on condensed milk, he grew to enjoy beer, cigarettes, and morning coffee. He was even promoted to corporal for helping move ammunition during the Battle of Monte Cassino during WWII.
