Hyakuichitaro Senju - Basic guide to the character
Hello!
Since I have too much free time on my hands right now, I decided to create a basic guide to our angry chihuhua and cover how and what for you can use him in your team.
First we start with covering his main purpose for your team aka:
Breaker Senju
When it comes to breaking enemies, Senju is the best characters... Well, as long as enemy doesn't jump away constantly like a certain Red Robot. Senju's secondary dealing 300+300 break as well as ability to cancel it at any point allows him to do some nasty stuff and basically speedrun bosses with good execution:

Even if enemy doesn't attack very often or currently occupied by your other ally, Senju still have a tech that allows him to break enemies relatively fast: Dash cancelling. By performing secondary attack and spamming dash, you can avoid waiting out recovery after said attack:

Not to mention that Senju parries suprisingly generous when it comes to timings and recovery:

One of the downside attached to Senju as a character - if you want to utilize his break potential, you just have to pilot him. Main reason being is that Senju's AI, loves using strategy skill, especially at terrible timings that leading to them completely whiffing an attack or just getting interrupted.
Senju's strategy have a long wind up and long exuction animation and worst part is, it's trade good break value for damage:
https://reddit.com/link/1j6g8ph/video/fyz5mvyofgne1/player
You deal 1080% damage but only 300 break compared to 720% damage and 600 break of Secondary. Considering how much time it takes to perform Strategy skill... yikes. However, this skill still have use, but only when it comes to Senju's second role in a team.
Worst part is, you can't evade or counterattack during entire duration of the skill. That's most agregious part about this skill really.
Anyways, that's covers all the main meachanics for the break role, whats about build? Well, it's pretty simple and straightforward:
Survival Instinct 5 > Anything else. Senju literally doesn't care what else you gonna upgrade which makes him a really cheap to upgrade, since you don't really need to go EX, especially if you get his dupes.
As for Patimon substats:
Stamina > MaxHP > Counterattack Stamina Consumption > Damage cut. Set effects doesn't matter
All you need for this character is to have as much stamina as possible, so you can spam your secondary->dash->secondary or parry as much as possible without having to wasting time running to regain said Stamina. Perfect example is my clip of breaking shark as I shown earlier, even tho I had 2000 stamina, it still run out right before I broke the shark.
Real downside is that this character is that him not having any real mobility: Yo jumps on targets whenever he uses his skills so does Q as far as I know, however Senju don't have such luxury, so you have to either running after the boss or waiting till it gets to you instead.

Support Senju:
This is the alternative way you can use Senju and this is more or less AI friendly since you dont care about break - only about him stacking his passive somehow.
However, I don't recommend using this build, unless you have a T5 Senju, otherwise it is much less effective than using Minami Oi:
This build main gimmick is to protect YOU when you piloting other characters than Senju. The way it gonna work is that Senju gonna suffer for all mistakes you did.
How that works specifically? Well, it is tied to Senju's passive: Fighting Spirit and Intimidating Ignition.
First, in order to even activate Senju's main gimmick, you have to get to 30 stacks. Way you do it either by landing last attack in your primary combo: it deals damage 3 times and granting you 1 stack per hit, landing your strategy: it hits 6 times and grants 2 stacks per hit or using chain attack: that one grants 6 stacks per enemy hit. Note that since every Senju's attack is AoE, hitting multiple enemies will grant more stacks as well.
T1 already provides 15 stacks at the start, plus potentially 6 when we break enemy and we only need to get 9 more, which usually done by using his strategy skill once on already broken enemy. After that, you receive an effect for 30 seconds. If you gonna reach required stacks again, duration and shield gonna refresh.
But what you get from doing that? Well, you get basically immortal character as long as Senju remains alive. What I mean by that? Well, let me breakdown how Intimidating Ignition works exactly:
Upon activation, it grants all OTHER allies shield equal to 60% Senju's HP. While this Shield exist, 20% at base, 50% at T5 and 100% at T5 and maxed out Passive 1 damage of ally takes gonna be transfered to Senju instead. Senju meanwhile gonna take 30% less damage from that redirected damage due T5 effect
Here's showcase how it looks with T5 and passive at 4 (90% transfered damage). Note that Jio doesnt have any items and supposed to die to this attack 100% time. There's also no TC cards equipped.
https://reddit.com/link/1j6g8ph/video/otf10norkgne1/player
(also small note, Senju actually didn't took that much damage from redirection, because he actually lost almost half hp due the fact that Senju's AI tried to use strategy skill. Remember when I said that AI loves to use it at bad timings? Here's a good example for it as well)
So now we know how it works, way you use it is for hard fights where you know that you gonna take a lot of damage and character that you pilot probably not gonna survive it. For example: Red Limit bosses.
Senju gonna act like airbag for you. If you add some healer characters, like Yo, Minami or Koichi, you can actually can get away with tanking a lot of the stuff as well. Just always remember how wacky Senju's AI can be and take matter into your own hand if you want to refresh his passive safely.
Build to use:
Passive 1 > Survival Instnct = Passive 2. You need passive redirect as much damage as possible, then you need increase Senju's survival, either by upgrading Passive 2 that gonna recover 5-25% his max hp each tiem you activate his Intimidating Ignition, or just by straight up Upgrading his max hp pool by upgrading survival instinct.
For Patimons you want to go:
MaxHP > Shield Resistance (increases size of shield) > Anything else. It doesn't look like Shield Damage Reduction doing anything, but you might as well use it.
Downsides of this build is more prominent compared to Break Senju:
- You have to let AI take control Senju from time to time, which means he probably gonna take damage due terrible strategy skill.
- Need source of healing to keep him alive
- Again, no mobility, but now it feels even worse since you have to rely on strategy skill to get stacks
