Trying to shake it off... :(

Warning -- not a nice story.

So...I teach in the town I live in, and live near my school. I walk three precious maltese around the neighborhood daily. This past week a 12 year old student who has displayed negative behaviors in his classes followed me to my house and said 'by the time you get home tomorrow, your dogs will be gone. I'm gonna kill your dogs." I told him to go home, tried to reach his parents, and eventually called the police and filed a complaint. His mom got my message and came down to my house right away to have the student apologize, but it was not sincere at all. I am TRYING to shake off the comment as wise-guy stuff and know that I've done all I can do. I had a ring camera installed and will set up other cams as deterrents. I doubt the kid will do anything at this point because he has been told to stay away from me, but...am having a hard time with all of it. I just keep thinking of how it would feel to lose the best part of my life - my pups - in such a bad way. Hug your babies a little tighter. There are sick people out there...
