ELI5. Why do talking stages take this long before a meet up?

I’m an older millennial based abroad so I’m out of the loop about a lot of things in the PH. But I would think that if you like someone enough via online chat, you’d meet up with them soon, like in 2 weeks at least to see how they are in real life. Unless of course long distance is a real factor for a longer separation. But wouldn’t it make more sense to meet at a public place earlier than a month so that expectations and frustrations about ghosting are managed?
