AITA for lying about wanting to continue the friendship? What do you think I should do?
(English is not my first language, sorry for the spelling)
An old friend from middleschool reconnected with me in november. Me and my husband has visited his and his wifes house. That was a nice evening, but I got some minor gut feeling that I supressed.
Last night just the two of us went out for a drink. He talked the whole night, and I could not get a word in. He told me so many stories involving drugs, sex and fighting. He also took drugs in the bathroom at the bar.
Afterwords he sent me at text apologizing if he was to much and said that he "expected me to be 100% honest with him". I totaly lied and just said "no worries" and I was dumb enough to also write that i hoped that we could continue to build a new friendship. (I deleted that message now, so hopefully he has forgotten that I wrote precisely that). I can be a bit of a push-over.
The problem is that I do not want to continue to have a friendship with this person. He scares me and creeps me out, and he is not the person that I was friends with in school.
Should I just let it blow over and not answer/answer vague and make up excused until he take the hint? Should I send him a text just saying that i lied last night because I did not know what to say, and that I dont want to continue the relationship?
I feel bad for lying, but it might make things worse if I send him a text to end the friendship.
AITA for lying and ghosting him? Or am I a bigger ass if I text him the truth?
