People who get things signed at shows

We've all seen how Xavier and Gaspard will come down to the audience and sign things in the first few rows at the end of the night. I'm curious how you protect your memorabilia from getting crushed/ruined during the show?

I'm hoping to get some signatures in San Francisco but I also really don't want to crush my vinyl.
