Am I a wackadoo for using bamboo yarn for granny square blanket?

I've begun the project and I decided after a few complete squares to sew in the ends and it's so damn slippy, I can barely get it to stay on the needle. I've never worked with rayon before.

I'm using Lion Brand Botanics, formerly Nuboo. Looking for advice and tips please!
