Anyone broken into PE post MBA without prior work experience in finance?

I love hearing from different peoples experiences and was wondering: Has anyone here done a complete career switch from a non finance background into arguable one of the most difficult finance functions (Private Equity)? Would love to hear how you did it, which school you attended, what kind of internship(s) you pursued and any advice you can give to people who want to follow your footsteps.
